I have been doing some Customer Service in the Medical Field for the last 6 years. I decided to work at a bank doing Customer Service (same line of work, just different field) What do I say when they ask me since I came from the Medical Field, why made me apply at the bank? working at the bank is a totally different field.
I am looking to say something that won’t make them think that I will not be stable & I will leave the bank to work in the Medical Field again. I need a good answer. THANKS!

Tell them that you’ve gone as far as you feel you can go in the Medical field, and you want to expand your knowledge by trying a different field; like banking. The fact that you’ve stayed on your current job for 6 years speaks well to the fact that you are not someone who jumps around jobs.

You can always say that you wanted to explore your other abilities that you feel will be a great asset to the company. I wouldn’t say anything like you are in need of something new or a change, because that may lead them to think you will leave the bank soon.

Say that you are looking to use your skills in a new genre.
Did you leave your former job, on good terms?
Will your former boss write a good reference?
I think you won’t have a problem.
You can say, that you couldn’t get a raise, if it is true.
You can say that you have hit the “glass ceiling?”
Did you move?

just wanted to try working in a different industry/field – relax – it’s not a life or death question
