How do I handle my online customer service?

live answering service

I was thinking about using live chat for customer service, but now I think that having a phone number (toll free) is more important.

Problem: I have a day job and run the site alone.

I can’t seem to find a good option to outsource my phone needs.
I need more than an answering service because I need to be able to take orders over the phone.

The services I have seen are all expensive and out of reach.

Any suggestions?

Isn’t there such a thing as a shared phone operatior service for small business like mine?

Please help I don’t want to stay in email land – I don’t think it’s professional.

Have you thought about searching for a virtual assistant? The people who offer these services, especially freelancers, are generally quite competent when it comes to a wide range of needs.

And, you can just pickup a toll-free number that allows you to switch change the call-to phone at certain times or upon request.

    Services like:

    or even

may be able to help you manage your toll-free line at certain times of the day.

To find virtual assistants, I would try services like:

    and

Though you would want to be sure that your virtual assistant lived in the same country as you do.

I’m not sure if this’ll work for your situation, but it’ll give you a different line of thought to consider.
