Ok, so i live in chicago. I’m applying for a job at the hot topic store at the hip.
im 16 blah blah they gave me an application. i’m aplying for a few other jobs too, and for those interveiws i know that i should dress nice, respectiful, etc.
thats where hot topic confuses me. i dont shop there. i wear crappy band tees and ripped jeans, but those band tees are old. haha. i dont know what kindof clothes theyre looking for. also could someone help me answer these questions?
1. desired position- (i dont know which positions there are!)
2. what does customer service mean to you?
eventually i’ll just use my own answers, but could anyone please give me some suggestions?

the outfit you described as wearing sounds good for wearing to a job interview at a place like hot topic. they do tend to focus on fairly newer bands, but they still respect the greats like Led Zeppelin, Slipknot, Slayer, Misfits, Motley Crue, Rolling Stones, Etc.

If you want to work there you have to look different. They love the freaky goth thing…but it has to be unique.

I’d say dress punky. It seems like everyone that works at Hot Topic dresses punky or gothic or emo or whatever.

2. Customer service. Well, don’t be clingy–that’s uncomfortable. Just come up to the person and ask if you can help them. If they, like most people, say “no thanks, I’m just looking,” respect that and let them look, but let them know you’re always available to help them.
