Has anyone else had a question unfairly removed?

live answering service

I recently submitted a question that was removed by whoever monitors this service. Their reasoning was that my question was “personal interest”. Umm, correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t ALL of the questions on here personal interest? People ask questions that they, personally, have an interest in getting feedback on. Is that not correct? My question had nothing rude, derogatory, racial, or sexist like NUMEROUS other questions I’ve seen on here. It seems to me that the guidelines are inconsistant, at best. Has anyone else had a question removed and feel that it was uncalled for? Why is it ok for Yahoo to leave disgusting questions like “I killed my neighbor’s cat. Anyone else done that?” or “Why do black people still live free in America?” Those are actual questions I’ve seen on Yahoo Answers, yet my question about how to find homes for unwanted dogs was deemed inappropriate and these horrid questions remain in open forum. What do you think?

I have seen horribly racist questions on here that have made me sooo angry, and they remain for days, yet a question like yours that you really want an answer to is removed. It sucks. They don’t really seem to follow their “guidelines,” it must be whoever happens to be working at that time gets to decide. Maybe someone should be fired?

I don’t know what the logic is. The site is becoming really bogged down, and there are a lot of asinine people out there. I understand that there are a lot kids posting all kinds of stuff and it must be hard, but they need to prioritize and if the question is not blatantly offensive take it under review before casting it off.

I haven’t had a question removed, but I’ve noticed that some questions I’ve answered have been removed. I couple of them were racially hotbuttons so I wasn’t entirely surprised, but on the other hand I think it is a restriction on freedom of speech. Another one I have no idea why it would be removed, it wasthis girl who wanted to get revenge on a guy. Maybe they removed these questions themselves, but I think it’s just as likely that yahoo removed them. I think they remove a LOT of questions, anything that is too controversial, but there are also a lot of things to be said about some of these topics which are perfectly serious, and in some ways more important than the silly questions they keep up here. as a result you have this trivial q&a going on at yahoo answers, and ultimately I think yahoo answers is worse off for it.

I found a lot of those questions that were removed were very interesting, and it seems like only the noncontroversial stuff is left. and I thought my answers to some of the feelings that people were voicing were good and I was sorry that they are gone. I think also that I won’t be coming back here very often (which may actually be good as far as my not wasting time goes) if all that’s left is silly people asking frivolous questions.

and from your post it seems like they remove things that aren’t even controversial. so I don’t know what their criteria are but they sure aren’t correct or making sense to people for various reasons. I am sure people feel very discouraged when their questions are removed. I think if someone wants to voice a desire to get revenge on someone, that is fine, and squelching that is not very helpful, because people need an outlet. Even if it’s to voice their frustration or hostile feelings towards the white race, I can see why some of those posts are removed, but others are not actually that bad, are worth speaking to, and those are the ones I replied to, just a couple of them, and they are removed also.
